The Intercessor’s Responsibility

ENGAGE TO DISENGAGE is an equipping community built for intercessors who understand that prayer is more than communication with God—it is spiritual responsibility, governmental engagement, discernment, and partnership with the will of Heaven. Intercession requires the believer to recognize what is operating, engage it through Spirit-led prayer, and remain positioned until unlawful spiritual activity is broken, displaced, and disengaged from the people, territories, assignments, and purposes it has attempted to influence.

Jesus established the necessity of persistent prayer in Luke 18:1: “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Prayer is not presented here merely as an occasional response to crisis. Christ establishes it as a sustained posture. The intercessor develops the spiritual stamina to remain before God without surrendering to weariness, discouragement, distraction, or delay. ENGAGE TO DISENGAGE exists to strengthen that stamina and cultivate intercessors who can carry prayer assignments with maturity, accuracy, discipline, and endurance.

Intercession means standing in the gap. Ezekiel 22:30 declares: “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” The gap represents a place requiring spiritual intervention. God searched for someone willing to occupy that position. This reveals the weight of the intercessor’s responsibility: to discern breaches, recognize vulnerabilities, perceive what is occurring beyond the natural realm, and become available to God as an instrument of prayer.

ENGAGE TO DISENGAGE will provide strong equipping, biblical instruction, spiritual sharpening, impartation, prayer strategies, prophetic intelligence, and practical development for those called to the ministry of intercession. Intercessors will be challenged to move beyond emotional praying into informed, discerning, Scripture-centered, Holy Spirit-led intercession. This community is designed to strengthen the intercessor’s ability to recognize spiritual patterns, discern prayer burdens, understand spiritual authority, develop consistency, pray strategically, and know when an assignment has been completed.

Paul gives further clarity concerning spiritual engagement in Ephesians 6:12: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Effective intercession requires proper identification. People are not the enemy. The intercessor must resist the temptation to make spiritual warfare personal, emotional, or flesh-driven. Mature intercession sees beyond personalities and circumstances and discerns the spiritual activity attempting to operate through them. We engage spiritually so that we do not fight carnally.

Scripture continues in Second Corinthians 10:4–5: “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” ENGAGE TO DISENGAGE will train intercessors to understand that spiritual authority is exercised through weapons supplied by God. Prayer, the Word of God, faith, obedience, discernment, worship, fasting, and submission to the Holy Spirit become instruments through which strongholds are confronted and dismantled.

The intercessor must also understand the power of agreement with Heaven. Matthew 18:18 declares: “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Intercession is not an attempt to convince Heaven to support our personal agenda. Mature prayer seeks to discern what Heaven has authorized and then brings the earth into agreement with the purposes of God. We bind what contradicts His will and loose what agrees with His Kingdom.

This is why Isaiah 62:6–7 provides such a powerful picture of the intercessor: “I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” Intercessors are watchmen. They observe. They discern. They hear. They remain alert. They sound alarms when necessary, cover what has been entrusted to them, and continue praying until the purpose of God is established.

ENGAGE TO DISENGAGE is about developing intercessors who know how to engage without becoming entangled. We engage the assignment without absorbing its warfare. We engage spiritual opposition without becoming consumed by it. We engage in prayer without allowing pride, fear, offense, exhaustion, or personal ambition to contaminate our posture. We learn when to press, when to listen, when to travail, when to decree, when to remain silent before God, and when to disengage because the assignment has reached completion.

This is a community for intercessors who desire greater depth, stronger discipline, sharper discernment, biblical understanding, spiritual maturity, and greater effectiveness in prayer. It is a place where prayer will be taught, practiced, sharpened, and strengthened. Intercessors will be equipped not simply to pray longer, but to pray with understanding; not simply to become louder, but to become more accurate; not simply to recognize warfare, but to understand their authority and responsibility within it.

James 5:16 declares: “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” We believe prayer still works. We believe intercession still shifts environments. We believe God still raises watchmen. We believe strongholds can be broken, captives can be liberated, families can be covered, leaders can be strengthened, ministries can be protected, communities can be impacted, and territories can experience transformation when disciplined intercessors accept their responsibility before God.

We ENGAGE because we have been authorized to pray.

We DISENGAGE because we refuse to remain connected to what God sent us to confront.

This is more than a prayer gathering.

This is the development of the Intercessor.

This is the strengthening of the Watchman.

This is the responsibility of those who have been called to stand in the gap.
